What Is It?
A simple analogy of acupuncture could be to liken it to a car. You know what it's like when you avoid servicing the car or having the oil changed. Eventually you know it will give up on you and go wrong. How many of us carry on driving when the red warning light says we are nearly out of fuel? We are just asking for trouble.
The body is very similar in some respects - we ignore all the signs and carry on until our warning lights stop flashing – the engine then packs up altogether and in some cases it's too late or is a costly exercise to correct.
5 Element Acupuncture is the equivalent to that regular service and top up.
Can Acupuncture Help Me?
Acupuncture can be useful in the treatment of specific conditions, these might include anxiety, stress, arthritis, asthma, back pain, depression, IBS, ear problems, sinusitis, stroke, facial paralysis, tinnitus, carpal tunnel syndrome, infertility, addiction, weight gain, skin conditions and problems such as headaches and migraines. Please see treatments for more information.
Also, some people like to have acupuncture as a preventative measure to strengthen their constitution or because they feel unwell in themselves.
The Needles
One of the greatest worries of first time patients to acupuncture is the thought of the needles. Many people have a dislike of needles and this is easily understood when most people's expectation of them is a fearsome looking syringe used in hospital dramas.
However, my patients are pleasantly surprised when I show them the needles that I will be using during their treatment. They are as fine as a human hair and are a thing of beauty within themselves.
At The Mitchell Hill Clinic we only use the top grade Japanese needles, made of the highest quality materials. Each needle is individually packaged and, of course, all needles are used only on the one patient and disposed of.
