December 2012 has been talked about for many years due to it being the end of the Mayan’s 13-Baktun cycle. This Chinese Solar Fortnight will take us right up to this prophesized date at the time of the Winter Solstice on the 21st December 2012. Every mid-winter sees a turning point, as the light returns, but it’s amplified this month as December is governed by Hexagram 24 ‘Return’. So, the end of a cycle yes, but to my mind that always signifies the beginning of the new, a time when we start to wake up and realise that we can move forward if we work together:

“It is not the private interests of the individual that create lasting fellowship among men, but rather the goals of humanity.” ~ The Richard Wilhelm Translation of the I Ching

Shared goals don’t mean that we should lose our identities, we all have unique gifts and skills that we can employ for the greater good; it’s important to retain our sense of self. It’s also how we react to change in our lives that matters, some will feel cleansed, others swamped, but change can also serve to unite.

We all know that winter is the season of Water, but each of the last two Solar Fortnights has seen it in abundance and strong too… This theme continues this month and the arrival of the Monkey on the 13th only serves to boost it even more. This, of course, can be literal, but also relates to what the Water Element relates to in your personal Ba Zi chart. In general, there is little warmth here, which could make many feel pessimistic and see increased overspending in the run up to Christmas. Focus on the wealth that you have; remember what’s really important to you.

This is often a very social time of year and with all of that Water, there may seem to be a plethora of people around to talk to. This provides the opportunity to tap into those connections you may have recently come across, but what do you want an abundance of? Think carefully, as to quote Dr. Michael Beckwith: “Energy flows where attention goes”; together we can create a new vision for the time to come.
