FIVE ELEMENT ACUPUNCTURE DIPLOMA
The course is structured in a way that will enable those who wish to embark on a course of study while remaining in their current employment, and as such is organised over Two Phases making a total of two years of weekend attendances. Following the application an interview is conducted, at which time both the prospective student and the college will have the opportunity to establish suitability for the course. Only a small number of students will be offered a place to ensure a good student to tutor ratio.
Phase One: Within this phase students will attend one weekend a month, during which time they will cover a thorough grounding in the theory of Five Element Acupuncture. This aspect of the curriculum will be supported by drawing upon the rich diversity of the philosophical and historical classics of Chinese medicine. Between weekend visits the student will enhanced their learning by logging onto the college website, where modules are available to read in preparation for the next college visit. This approach to learning will build the students' confidence, enhanced by the tutors sharing their wealth of knowledge, wisdom and experience in the practice of Five Element Acupuncture. This approach to learning follows the traditional apprenticeship style of study.
Phase Two: Within this phase students will attend one weekend a month, during which time the theories and principles of Five Element Acupuncture taught in Phase One will be put into clinical practice. This aspect of the curriculum will consist of topics such as; how to carry out a Traditional Diagnosis, short/intermediate/long term treatment planning, additional meridian channels. Thereby building the students competence and those skills required for practice.
Throughout Phase One and Two, alongside the online study, there will also be the opportunity to attend regular webinars to enable students from both college locations to get together virtually, look at different aspects of the course and enhance their knowledge.
Whether you are in the U.K. or Europe, there are lots of travel options available: There is an airport in Cornwall, with regular flights from London and most U.K. airports. And Cornwall also has the benefit of the 'Cornish Riviera Express': an overnight sleeper train from London Paddington.
Assessments: Continued assessment will be achieved by the completion of written assignments sprinkled throughout the course, which will be marked by your course tutors. Practical clinical skills assessments will be conducted at the end of Phase One and Phase Two.
Upon completion of the two year course, and successful completion of the practical skills assesments, graduates will be awarded a Diploma in Five Element Acupuncture - with permission to practice. Graduates will also receive a year's free membership of the 5 Element Acupuncture Network.
WHAT ARE THE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS?

"I have known Paul for over 17 years. I studied Five Element Acupuncture with him at The College of Traditional Acupuncture in Leamington Spa between 2001 and 2004. As a fellow student he was kind and compassionate, knowledgeable, hugely enthusiastic, reassuring and funny – he has a great sense of humour!
"Since graduating Paul has continued to study and develop new techniques to enhance his practice and has been extremely generous with this continued development by teaching others. I have attended some of his training courses and find them thoroughly informative, extremely professional and I have always gone on to use the techniques in my own practice with great results.
"There are becoming fewer Five Element Practitioners since The College of Traditional Acupuncture closed – this style of acupuncture is amazing, fascinating and, more importantly, it works and I am delighted that Paul is now able to carry the tradition forward, I wish him every success."
