This workshop will take a practical hands-on approach to treating and managing pain (full day).
The delivery will be via a presentation of the theory accompanied by guided hands-on practice.
- The day will begin with an introduction to the pathology and types of pain as viewed from a Traditional Chinese perspective, which will enhance learning how to recognise both the cause and nature of pain.
- We will cover a detailed exploration of the signs and symptoms; the tongue and pulse diagnosis; the pathology and aetiology associated with the following concepts of pain (referred to “Bi”). Wandering Bi, Painful Bi, Fixed Bi, Febrile Bi, and Bony Bi. Examples of point combinations will be given within this section.
- We will then move on to explore the treatment principles and needling techniques required when treating pain, taking into consideration the pathology and types of pain.
- Through presentations, anatomical charts and diagrams, the participants will then have the opportunity to explore the point location and treatment protocol for specific pain sites, along with the use of point combinations that enhance those treatments.
